TRIO Upward Bound is a pre-college program designed to support high school students academically, and provides opportunities to tour colleges, explore careers, and cultural activities to prepare them for a successful, college experience.
Students take a series of core classes – science, math, reading and language arts, literature, history and foreign language – and are able to choose electives in fields ranging from healthy eating and personal finance to geocaching and theater. An out-of-state trip for a week wraps up the Summer program. Students have the opportunity to earn elective credit for high school.
The TRIO Upward Bound Program at WVU Tech is funded through
a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. This program was refunded
for the 2017-2022 grant cycle.
